Its been a minute since last we posted. We have had a few life changes and we had some weather that kept us from working on the bus but as we enter the Spring of '23 we hope to be able to devote more time to bus life.
This past weekend we decided to paint the front and rear bumper of the bus. This was next on the list for a couple of reasons. First it just needed to be done. The bumpers were kinda tired and a lick of paint would do them good. Also the rear bumper was in need of some rust mitigation. It appears that the front bumper was replaced at some point so it is newer and in really good shape. The rear bumper was original and we needed to do something to stabilize the bumper against any further rust decay. It is still perfectly servicable but it won't be cosmetically perfect.
Secondly we wanted to try our hand at painting so that we could get a feel for the MUCH larger process of painting the entire bus. This is definatley going to be a BIG job so we wanted to do a little job first.
The results were mixed and in the case of the rear bumper still pending. We learned some things and although we might end up painting both bumpers again we at least got a feel for what works and what doesn't. Like almost everything else invovled in this adventure there is a learning curve and that curve isn't always a single parabola. Sometimes there are curves within your curves; painting appears to be one of those instances.
